Prime Test 250

Postby pattestni » Thu May 29, 2014 8:43 pm

I have a Prime Test 250 and when I test reel extension leads I am sometimes getting a reading of 0.30 giving a FAIL in earth continuity. Everything else may be ok just a Fail because of earth continuity. I have been told that this is common in this type of test equipment where you get a PASS or FAIL. Is this correct ? and if so what have others been doing to overcome this issue.

It all depends on the length and cross section of the cable.

1.5mm2 cable is 13.3mOhm/M so 2 metre length has a resistance of 26.6 mOhm. Then add the 10mOhm allowed for the terminal and it FAILS.

Hi Guys

As the PT250 is a manual tester it will not automatically calculate the limit for earth continuity on items with supply leads or extension leads. Seaward have introduced a handy app to help with this. Please see more information below.
Thanks and kind regards
