Multiple Tests on Same number.....

Postby remedy234 » Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:47 pm

Another problem....

We have a customer that has 4 full tests carried out on 4way extension leads, 6 tests on 6ways etc..... but he wants the tests on the same asset numbers

The way we always did it before was to like this

Item No 001Port1 - 4way ext
item No 001 Port2 - 4way ext....etc

He's happy to pay for four full tests or6 full tests etc on one appliance but now he says this isnt acceptable as he cant have the port1, port2 etc included in the asset number.

We've tried putting the port1, port2 etc in the description field but we found that if you tested 4 ports on item 001 for instance then only the last port would actually download into patguard, as if it erased the previous ports.

We use europa plus if that helps?

If you look through the test options, there is an option to do multi earth cont, multi insulation, but only 1 continuity. Check out www.seaward.co.uk/downloads/015-create-a-test-sequence-for-a-multi-way-lead.pdf

Thanks but that isnt what he wants. He wants a full seperate test for each port but using the same number. Dont worry, we dont know why either.

They also want "run tests" on PSU's.......

It's worth remembering that on a multiway extension, only multiple earth bond and polarity tests for each socket would make any sort of sense.
Multiple insulation tests would literally mean performing the exact same test again and again, as it tests the whole extension lead in one go.
Alan's suggestion is the best, most meaningful way to do it.

In that case you can only tell him "The impossible we do at once, but this would be a miracle!!"

There is a round about way of achieving what your client wants albeit not exactly the same. You can manually enter an asset ID number say 12345 then add a suffix 12345/2, 12345/3, 12345/4 for the subsequent sockets. I have done this on some of my sites to make the reporting look slightly less confusing. Works for me.

If I didn't want to use my Europa in manual mode I would just do 4 or 6 full lead tests using the same appliance number, it's not as if the extra tests are going to do any harm unless it's a filtered or surge-protect lead. Using my Shire software all 4/6 results will download recorded on the same date. (Maybe Patguard doesn't allow this?)
