Testing RCD

Postby chrisb » Wed Sep 12, 2012 4:40 pm

I've been given two RCD plugs to test. Trying different configurations with the Primetest 300 I can't make either of them trip and give a proper trip time reading on the tester. So far I've tried connecting the RCD to the mains then using the mains to IEC connection at the back of the tester which has been unsuccessful.

Can anyone assist?

You want to be using the mains cord (13A plug to funny circular connector), not the IEC lead, to do RCD tests.
See page 6, and then page 50 of your Primetest 300 manual.

The IEC inlet is only for testing mains leads (Page 15).
