Supernova memory wipe

Postby LordAzrael76 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 8:44 pm

Hi,
I've just purchased a Supernova XE with the aim of starting up PAT testing soon. However, on receipt it still has site locations etc. stored on it so that when I go to do a test of my equipment it's showing up college details etc.

Is there a way to easily clear all of this information as I've done a factory reset and can't find anything else in the instructions.

Many thanks

Derek

The manual which can be downloaded from the Seaward site has information about deleting items and clearing memory on pages 56 & 57.

Delete Single Appliance
-----DELETE APPLIANCE-----
APPLIANCE NUMBER
Enter the Appliance number to delete a single appliance and press
Enter .

A warning ‘Are You Sure ?’ prompt will appear. Press the No fast key
to return to the previous menu or press the Yes fast key to perform
the delete operation and return to the previous menu.
Note
Deleting Appliances in this way will delete all of the matched
appliances across all of the Sites and Locations.
When a single appliance is deleted it is not removed from
memory but hidden from the user. This test is still resident in
memory and is taking up memory space, this test can be
reviewed / downloaded at a later date. Since the test is still
resident in memory the View Memory Capacity indicates
there are results stored. In this situation to remove all
resident tests select clear results memory.

Clear Results Memory
This option will delete all of the appliances currently stored in memory
and should be used carefully!

Note
Users will be asked whether they are sure about performing
this action.
A warning ‘Are You Sure ?’ prompt will appear. Press the No fast key
to return to the previous menu or press the Yes fast key to perform
the delete operation and return to the previous menu.

Clear Upload Memory
This option will delete all of the appliance codes that have been
uploaded from an external computer and should be used carefully!
Note
Users will be asked whether they are sure about performing
this action.
A warning ‘Are You Sure ?’ prompt will appear. Press the No fast
key to return to the previous menu or press the Yes fast key to
perform the delete operation and return to the previous menu.

If you use an asterisk * as the item ID in the Delete Single Appliance option, I'm pretty sure all items will be deleted. Although sites and locations won't.

Slightly off thread, if you use an asset number twice, is there a way of selecting just one of the duplicated numbers.

I find this situation arises when I'm retesting a client and forget to scan in the ID number of an item before testing it, or I change the ID number and reuse a number- fraustrating deleting an ID number and having two sets of test results go west, and then have to retest both items.

Being able to delete a single item on the basis of ID number and date/time, or first duplicate/second duplicate would be great
