Stephen, I gather there are issues with PATGuard 2 if/when a user upgrades to Windows 8, how far off is a "patch" to overcome this?

Thank you for your enquiry.

At present there is no further development planned for PATGuard 2.
Unfortunately, this version of PATGuard is not compatible with Windows 8.

Kind regards
Technical Support

Has there been any rethink of the policy of not updating PG2 to run under Windoze 8?

Hi southseas

We have updated our PATGuard program to work with Windows 8 as well as adding lots of new features. This has been released as PATGuard 3 and is available on a yearly subscription basis meaning that in future when Windows is updated you will receive a free update so that it will work with the new system as long as you stay subscribed. There is also a very attractive discount when upgrading from PG2!

For more information please go to www.seaward.co.uk/pg3trial

Think that I will probably look round for an alternative in that case, as an annual (and fairly expensive) subscription for something that doesn't seem to be working particularly well isn't that attractive when it's multiplied by the number of years that I've had Patguard 2.

Hi southseas

PATGuard 3 can also be purchased for a one off cost from your local distributor however this may not protect you against future versions of Windows being released. Have you downloaded the trial of PATGuard 3 yet? There have been numerous updates since release and so you may find that what you believed not to be working well has now been resolved.

PAT testing equipment is SO expensive. Then you have to add the Software which again is SO expensive. Then add the sticker jockies who keep the price you can charge at basement prices.

Is it really worth PAT inspecting??

To draw a parallel with the hardware/software issue, my son is a DJ. He uses Seratto hardware to play his music from his laptop. The hardware is expensive, and the software is FREE!!

He uses Lightjockey to control his DMX lights. Again the hardware is expensive, but the software FREE.

On both programmes, updates are also free and email notified to him.

Seaward take note!

Hi Alan

I take on board what you have said and will certainly consider it as constructive feedback.

This is one of the reasons we introduced a subscription version so that the initial investment in the software is minimal (as little as £45 if upgrading from PATGuard 2!). For customers concerned with traceability having PATGuard software would certainly give you one over the so called 'sticker jockeys' as all results downloaded from the tester are time and date stamped and non-editable. Just something to think about and if you don't see the benefits after the 1st year of subscribing then you will still be able to access your results in read only mode and will only be £45 down. :)

Even at £45, that is EXPENSIVE, and I am not in the upgrade position. As I said above, with both Seratto and LightJockey you BUY the hardware. The software is FREE (very expensive).
