Running PatGuard Elite software on Linux systems

All my computer systems are running Linux as I generally dislike using Microsoft Windows operating systems. Most windows software can be run on Linux systems using an emulator called WINE. However, although the PatGuard software seems to work on my (linux) system, it does not seem to like the database files ( I get a most unhelpful error message saying "unknown"), so I am unable to run PatGuard on my usual systems. I have had to resurrect a Windows version on one of my PCs just to be able to use PatGuard. I am using PatGuard Elite.

Has anyone else successfully implemented PatGuard software (and databases) on a linux system?

Hi Ringer

PATGuard is designed to run under Windows OS. I don't have any experience with Linux but several of our development guys do - I'll see if they have any suggestions.

Thanks Jim. I hope your development guys have tried this for themselves and can help me on this. I do understand that Seaward are disinclined to officially support PatGuard on Linux systems, but am willing to be a guinea pig if unofficial support might be available. I also have some considerable experience of porting database systems in a previous career.
