Job title: Technical Sales
Department: Commercial
Reports Direct: Sales Office Team Leader

Job Purpose:

  • To achieve annual sales targets
  • To provide customers with first class pre sales and after sales advice and support on a range of products

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Supporting customers who might benefit from company products or services and maximising customer potential.
  • Developing long-term relationships with customers, through managing and interpreting their requirements.
  • Advising customers that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery.
  • Negotiating price, terms and conditions to meet both customer and company needs.
  • Administering customer accounts.
  • Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education.
  • Providing on after-sales support services and tier 1 technical back up as required.
  • Participating in all product training and keeping up to date with our products technically.
  • Managing your performance.
  • Hitting sales targets (daily, weekly, monthly and annually)
  • Delivering product presentations and demonstrating how a product meets customer needs.
  • Working closely and support other members of the sales team and other technical experts and view colleagues as internal customers.

KPIs:

  • Key Geographical and key product sales targets.
  • Customer support/ response time targets.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Possesses expertise acquired from a sector relevant to the product range the individual is selling and supporting. For example: manufacturing, utility providers, electrical maintenance / FM, electrical contracting, hospitals, electrical design.
  • A Further Education Qualification (HND or above) which can be applied to the appropriate product range is desirable but not essential. Appropriate qualifications may be in the following fields: electronic engineering, physics, biomedical.
  • Proven track record in a sales / selling environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential, with a good telephone manner.
  • Foreign language skills may be an advantage.
  • Ability to make judgement calls based on sound business skills.
  • Ability to self-manage as part of a team, and have strong organisational skills.
  • Experience in working irregular working patterns.
  • Experience at working in a customer service environment in a KPI driven environment.
  • Essential to have a team ethic.
  • Very good IT skills including MS office and CRM/ Social media awareness.
  • Flexibility and able to adapt to change.
  • Speak fluent English.

Job title: Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports Direct: Principal Engineer

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Produce Technical Specification from Product Requirement Specification.
  • Develop products that work first time, meeting tight timescales and budget.
  • Ensure the product design meets the applicable standards, safety and legal requirements and is in accordance with the Seaward quality manual.
  • Ensure that all documentation produced for each project undertaken is of a level that can be clearly understood and provides sufficient details.
  • Undertake technical and risk assessments of information and situations arising.
  • Liaise and manage external design resources.
  • Liaise with production and purchasing in ensuring the product is designed for assembly and test, to assist in phasing in the new product to production.
  • Produce project plans and estimations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Essential

  • Electronics Engineer degree or equivalent minimum.
  • Hardware/PCB design for high speed digital circuits.
  • Hardware design for high voltage circuits.
  • Hardware design for high precision and low noise analogue circuits.
  • Designing for low power consumption and for small space-volumes.
  • Understanding of safety critical design.
  • A willingness to acquire the technical knowledge about new products is essential.

Desirable

  • Embedded software design C, C++ and QT etc.
  • LabView development.
  • Some experience of Linux or Unix.
  • Experience in ISO9000 environment.
  • Understanding of basic electrical and electronic parameters – e.g. measurements of resistance, voltage, current, insulation; 17th edition testing useful.

Job Purpose:

To participate as a member of the Seaward operations team, while working with the rest of the department in achieving the performance indicators as required by the Seaward Group.

Responsible for helping set and maintain standards of quality that can be seen as world class.

Working with the purchasing department to improve the quality of materials purchased by the Seaward Group.

The production engineer will be expected to have the stature to deliver the strategic objectives of the company and represent the business to the outside world as and where appropriate.

Job title: Test Technician
Department: Operations Department
Reports Direct: Team-Leader

Job Purpose:

To participate as a member of the manufacturing team, carrying out all relevant forms of manufacturing operations within the department.

Responsible for the manufacture / assembly and testing of products in accordance with Seaward’s quality and work instructions.

Demonstrate procedure and supervise staff as required. Responsible for carrying out production functions without direct supervision and may be required to demonstrate procedure with competence for trained and untrained staff.

  • Achievement of cell production targets
  • Reject/quality rate of components produced. Less than 1% warranty return in cell
  • Attendance and timekeeping
  • Working effectively with others to meet targets and resolve issues
  • To pass Seaward Internal Soldering Test
  • To pass Seaward Internal ESD Test
  • Returns Rate 0.5%
  • Yield (FPTR) 95%
  • Training Achieve published training plan

Accountabilities:

  • Maintain at all times a high standard of work and safety in accordance with Seaward Electronic Ltd policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that a safe environment is maintained within the factory. Report any complaints, accidents or incidents both internal and external to a senior manager on site.
  • Participate in training programmes and act as a mentor as required.
  • Take responsibility for personal development in relation to change in management and procedures.
  • Manufacture / assemble products within the specified assembly times (after training).
  • Maintain a clear and tidy work environment.
  • Ensure that all products manufactured / assembled is in accordance with Seaward’s quality standards.
  • Ability to produce accurate work while meeting volume targets.
  • Display adaptability and flexibility to learn new tasks as required by the needs of the business.
  • Have an acceptable level of attendance and time keeping.
  • Ability to investigate and repair all types of Seaward manufactured product (where training has been provided).
  • Calibrate Seaward product and log test results on the correct paperwork.
  • Log fault information.
  • Carry out safety testing of calibration / repaired equipment.
  • Check systems for availability of spares.
  • Provide cover for technical support if required.
  • Ensure that all test equipment used is calibrated and in a safe condition.
  • Highlight and report any potential faults / problems to team-leader.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • The ability to read and recognise resistors values
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a demanding area of the business.
  • The ability to manufacture / assembly Seaward’s products (training will be provided).
  • The ability to work without direct supervision.
  • The ability to fault find to component level.
  • Some IT skill is preferred (training will be provided).
  • Ability to investigate and repair various types of Seaward produce (training will be provided).
  • Testing and fault finding of PCB's down to component level.
  • Ability to follow test procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of NVQ Level 2
  • Ideally NVQ Level 3
